| Introduction | American newspaperman from Texas (I previously worked in New Orleans and Puerto Rico) who retired at 55 and moved alone with two suitcases to the mountains of Middle Mexico in the year 2000. I knew no one and spoke no Spanish. In 2003, I married a lovely Mexican and together we designed and built a large home painted red on the outskirts of a mountaintop town. My Spanish improved. I became a Mexican citizen in 2005. I have not been in the United States since 2009, and have no plans to ever return. |
