Occupation River Ribble - the Most Important estuarine River in Britain.
Location South Ribble and Preston, West Yorkshire to Lancashire and out to the Irish Sea, United Kingdom
Introduction In Roman-British times, the River Ribble was known as Reigh Belisama, the goddess of Shining Waters. Reigh means waters, and bel shining. Ptolemy mentions the Belisama estuary at coordinates corresponding to the mouth of the Ribble. In Britain, only the River Wharfe and the River Ribble are known to have named deities, and both rivers begin on Cam Fell in the Pennines... See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Ribble for lots of interesting River Ribble history, geography, and environmental info. I'm J. A. Brunning, a local resident of the River Ribble, and set up the Save The Ribble Campaign with friends who, like me, live by this beautiful River and are passionate about protecting it for its own sake, and for future generations. Our campaign was successful - we SAVED THE RIBBLE from a damaging barrage & inappropriate riverside floodplain developments. You can contact Save The Ribble via the comments tab or via J A Brunning on Facebook or LinkedIn or [at]ribblebabel on Bluesky.

Your pajamas have duckies on them. Why did you switch from choo-choos?

Because the ducks float better on the incoming tide
