Introduction Personally, I wrapped up my second year of marriage in June '07 and am hard at work trying not to screw up year number three. I'm originally from Virginia. I despise rude people. I have a thing for pocket squares. I hate Neopolitan ice cream, and my wife and I have a heeler/Australian Shepherd mix. Professionally, I've been a newspaper reporter for almost nine years, and I've covered everything from crime to local governments, to schools. But I've had the most fun at work over the past five years, as I've transitioned from what we call "hard" news to what I call squeezeably soft news. Not soft as in flabby or unimportant, but soft as in good feeling, not repetitive, and not depressing. These days as a features writer, I look for trends in popular culture, whether it's style, music, relationships, technology, or just living. I joined The Miami Herald in Oct. 2005 after seven years at a newspaper in Wisconsin.
Interests Narrative newspaper feature stories, college basketball, trying occasionally to play hoops myself, writing, (recently finished my first novel), tipping a glass of whatever I want to drink 'cause I'm a grown man, The Boondocks, Family Guy, Flip this House, The First 48, The Shield, Law & Order, The Sopranos, good sense, good manners, etiquette

You're trapped in a well with a goat and a slinky. Describe how you will escape.

I'd probably let the goat listen to my Best of American Idol mix tape and hope he kicks me so hard that it sends me sailing out of the well.
