| Introduction | You can call me Waning. That's not my real name, but it is my Internet name. I am 43 years old and I teach biology. I write as an outlet for my angst, and I Google things. Lots of things. (I can't believe I managed to graduate from college without the Internet.) I started writing here because I was bored while recovering from hip surgery, and was reading a bunch of blogs about hips, and decided that the cyberworld needed one more sad story about hips. Little did I know when I chose the name '39 and Hip' that I'd still be writing about my hips years later, yet here I am. In the midst of my hip saga, I also found out I have breast cancer. Awesome. There is never a dull moment around here. So if you enjoy listening to a total stranger whine, and/or you are interested in learning about failed hip arthroscopy, deep vein thrombosis, breast cancer, hip dysplasia, or periacetabular osteotomy, I invite you to join me. If not, I can't blame you. :) |
