I have been an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University and more recently at San Francisco State Univ., and am currently involved with starting several different companies, including my non-profit foundations. My prior companies include FORE Systems (IPO), AVIDIA (acquired), MediaSite (Acquired), Vinomis Labs, Haley Systems (acquired), Network Equipment Technologies and TalkShoe. I attended Princeton (undergraduate), and Stanford (MBA). My outside interests are varied including writing books and poetry, painting, sailing, skiing (both downhill and cross-country), horseback riding, and travel. I just starting learning the guitar and hope to take flying lessons soon.
Interests In addition to teaching and starting entrepreneurial ventures, I enjoy sailing, writing (novels, plays, poetry), doing art (oils, watercolors, ink, etc.) photography, coaching soccer, my kids and family. Lately I have created art works in Poetry (an illustrated book of 40+ poems is due out in January 2011) And I DANCE all the time.
Favorite Movies Chariots of Fire, Titanic, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Clockwork Orange, Blue Velvet, Annie Hall, The Fugitive, Star Wars, 21 Grams, SALT, Milk (about the activist Harvey Milk in SF) -- and Shrek 1
Favorite Music You name it -- Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Classic Rock and Roll, Funk, Spanish Guitar, Hip Hop, Rap, Rave, Classical, etc. etc. and yes -- DISCO ;-) The only thing I'm not thrilled with is traditional country twang, though I do like the "new" country music.
Favorite Books Shakespearian plays (Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Henry the V, are my favorites), Equus, The Stranger, Asimov's Foundation Series -- and unlike Sarah Palin, I can tell you the newspapers and magazines I read -- NY Times, Popular Science, AP News on my iPhone, Wall Street Journal. I'm now reading the Quran (Koran) to broaden my horizons.

How do you pronounce the 'g' in bologna?

gn - as in "gn" in spanish Signore. In Bologna, salami is Bologna naturally. Actually it's like Mortadella.
