<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">1. A new perspective helps!! There is a difference between being thankful (the feeling) and giving thanks (the action). Inspiration from @lilsteedsmom</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">2. Instagram is great, but it's not everything! I love the connections I have made on there and I know I can count on lots of fun hashtags and inspiration when I am on there, but I have finally come to the point, where I just don't care. I don't care if don't get to post for a hashtag. I don't care if I loose followers or if I don't get that many likes on a post. It's OK! It's definitely a great tool and it took me awhile to get to this place, but I can't tell you how much better I feel, now that I realized this and accepted it.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">3. There are lots of ways we can be the change right where we are. I had so much fun writing (micro-blogging) about this for the #write31days challenge this year! You can see all of the posts here --> <a href="http://www.theerinelizabeth.com/2017/10/31-day-writing-challenge.html">"Be the Change"</a>. And it will only take you about 10 minutes to read through them all.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">4. My sink will forever be filled with dishes. No matter how hard I try to keep it empty, it never fails. I have come to accept this and I am ok with it!!... I think!</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">5</span><span style="font-size: large;">. I really love to sing, a lot!! I have ever since I was young. I sing in the car, the shower, around the house while I'm cleaning, and even to myself when I don't even realize. You know where I won't sing?...... In front of other people. Why?? Because I am terrified. I have this fear in my head that when I go to sing in </span><span style="font-size: large;">front of others that I am going to sound awful. Call it a pride thing, but I just can't seem to get over it. The funny thing is, I always pictured myself singing in front of others at church or other events, but when I actually start to consider it, I get that feeling again. I pray that one day, with His help, I can overcome this fear!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">6. Speaking of fear, talking in front of large groups is not my thing either. I have learned that during these situations, I start to sweat, my hearts starts to race, and if it's really bad, my eye starts to twitch. I am a speech language pathologist in a school and I have to sit in meetings a lot with parents, I have no choice. You would think that by now I would be better at it, since I have done so many, but half the time, I feel like I can't even control it. It's so embarrassing. The one thing that has helped, is prayer & preparation! You can read more about this, in one of my posts I wrote about <a href="http://www.theerinelizabeth.com/2017/10/finding-courage.html">Finding Courage</a>.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">7. I have finally created my own planner using a bullet journal and I love it! I learned about bullet journaling at the end of last year and I wasn't really interested. I had my eye on the planner from Inkwell press for 2017. I really did love this planner, and I feel like out of all the ones I have used in the past, this one had mostly everything that I wanted, but not all. As I continued to practice my hand lettering this year, the thought of creating my own, using the bullet method kept coming up. I knew it was going to take a lot of time, but I knew I was ready for the challenge. It will be using it for 2018, however I did add in December because it's a crazy month, and well, I just couldn't wait! Here are some photos!</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">And that's it!! It was a great season. I loved watching the leaves change colors and that smell of Fall in the air. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house and it was wonderful!! I am super excited for Christmas this year and can't wait to see what God has in store for 2018! I hope this Winter season is filled with many memories and lots of love for you all,... and if possible maybe we will learn a thing or two! Until next time...</span></div>

<br />
At first, they were just holders of books, DVDs and other random things, but they just looked so messy and the styling was not cohesive to the other pieces in the room. I must of re-arranged them at least 4 times before I got them the way they are now.<br />
<br />
I think that it was so important for me to get the styling right, because they are so beautifully made and have so much more potential than to just be used for storing things. I knew that there was a way for them to be functional yet still pretty to look at. It was also important to me, for them to stand out, because they are one of the first things people see when they walk into our house.<br />
<br />
Here are a few photos of what the shelves looked like before the transformation.....<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Here are my 5 tips for styling your bookshelves:<br />
<br />
1. <b>Think outside the box. </b>They don't have to be just for books and you don't have to stack the books in the traditional way either. I turned my books around so that you see the pages not the spine. Think of all the different things out there today that are not being used for what they were originally intended. I also added a few baskets to store things in, such as pens or bills that need to be paid. Remember, you can have them look pretty and still be functional.<br />
<br />
2. <b>Start Fresh.</b> Take everything off of the shelves and start fresh. I went through all of my stuff that I had on my shelves and decided if I really needed to keep it out or if I could find another spot for it somewhere else. I also went through all of my books and made piles. I got rid of a lot that I know I will never read again. I kept some of the really nice older ones to use for styling, and the books that I refer back to often, I grouped them all together.<br />
<br />
3. <b>Decorate your Shelves</b>. I went around my house to find some nice photos and other framed art that I could place on the shelves. I also found some fake plants and a few other nice personal items. This could be anything that has meaning to you. We have a really nice clock that was gifted to us by my husband's best friend. We never really had a place for it until we moved into our new house. Now we do! I also have some items from our wedding that I had stored in boxes because I wasn't sure what to do with it before. Now I can actually display them and they become pieces that tell part of our story.<br />
<br />
4. <b>Forget about Symmetry</b>. When I say this, I simply mean don't worry if things don't look a certain way. You will probably arrange things a couple times before you get it the way you want it. I put one big decor piece in the middle shelving unit as a focal point and then everything else I just staggered according to each individual shelf. You want to mix things up a bit though when styling each shelf. Try not too have all of one thing (i.e. books, plants, photos) on a shelf. For example I put a few books and a plant on one shelf and then a few more books, at the opposite end, and some pictures, on another. (See the photos above for how I styled the different shelves).<br />
<br />
5. <b>There is no wrong way. </b>I always include this as part of my decorating tips/advice. You need to have fun with it. If you are getting frustrated, walk away for a little and come back to it. It can be overwhelming but it shouldn't be something that makes you so frustrated that you give up. Decorating should be fun. You are creating your nest/space to enjoy and to share with others there really is no wrong way of doing it. Just keep mixing things up until you can step back and say, "That's it"!<br />

I never took any classes on interior design or decorating. I feel that I have gotten better over the years and have gained experience though lots of trial and error. I love to watch home design shows and I follow a lot of bloggers who are into home design and DIY decor, so I get a lot of inspiration from them.<br />
<br />
I truly just have a passion for creating, decorating, and organizing. I love pretty things and I get so excited when a room comes together to tell a story. It takes time and I still move things around from room to room till I find the right spot for each piece. I rearrange constantly, not from discontent but rather, a fresh new look to love! It is so much fun to repurpose old things into something new that serve a purpose instead of just throwing stuff away.<br />
<br />
I am so grateful for this gift that God has blessed me with and I am so happy to share a few of my ideas and tips with you! The ultimate goal is to create your nest (home), that you love, that also tells your story.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUfnKcvA7I593i4KE1H7Xde8u5RS4EKZfDTLQr0Qj6spOwc-WAEUyzPK3BqCRZKuW-ocoBorlZ_w-r8p4qpMIptu6yOoCLjFk2aWsv0an_PU4dToCnbqQe5m-l6HYPppc7U_Gt5l-euRyn/s1600/creatingyournest.001.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUfnKcvA7I593i4KE1H7Xde8u5RS4EKZfDTLQr0Qj6spOwc-WAEUyzPK3BqCRZKuW-ocoBorlZ_w-r8p4qpMIptu6yOoCLjFk2aWsv0an_PU4dToCnbqQe5m-l6HYPppc7U_Gt5l-euRyn/s640/creatingyournest.001.png" width="640" /></a></div>
The first area that I want to talk about is the feel of your home. If you could choose one or two words that you want to describe your home, what would they be? Comforting, welcoming, safe, loving, peaceful, or maybe fun? It's totally up to you. Think about what you want others and your family to feel when they come to your home. Remember, you want your home to tell your story.<br />
<br />
The second part of creating the feel of your home, is what colors you choose for your walls. You would be surprised how much a coat of paint can do for a room. For me, a fresh coat of paint is easy and not too expensive if you are looking for one way to quickly redo a room or maybe freshen it up a little.<br />
<br />
Now, here is where some people may disagree with me, and that's fine. Remember I am not an expert, this is just my opinion. When choosing colors for your walls, you want to stay on the light side, especially if the room you are painting doesn't have a lot of light. Here are just a few of reasons why you should choose lighter, more neutral shades of paint for your walls.<br />
<br />
1. It makes the room brighter<br />
2. It makes the room look bigger<br />
3. You can get more creative with your decor choices<br />
4. You have more options for furniture because neutral colors match almost anything<br />
<br />
I am not saying dark colors are bad all together, but in my opinion, you don't want to paint an entire room something that is really dark. Why not do an accent wall in another color, or maybe choose a dark floor to offset the lighter walls. You can always bring in color through your decor as well. I just think that lighter, neutral colors are a better choice when painting most of the walls/rooms in your house. Most of the time, the words that you want to have describe your home, go hand in hand with the colors you choose for your walls (What colors do you think of when you think, peaceful, serene, comforting?).<br />
<br />
For me, when we moved into this home, choosing our paint colors was the most important part to creating and decorating my nest. It sets the tone for everything else you are going to do.<br />
<br />
Check out a few of my favorite paint colors below. They can be used in any room of the house!<br />
<br />
1. Stonington Gray ~ Benjamin Moore<br />

Most importantly try not to get stressed about it! It can be overwhelming. My advice, buy a bunch of samples to see what you like best. Maybe, buy some floor samples as well, to get a feel for how each room will look, but make sure you have fun! Follow the links below to read the rest of the series!<br />

How many of us can ever say that we have been stuck in a rut? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know for me when these ruts come, they through my world upside down and I have such a hard time getting unstuck. My mood is down and my energy is low. I have a bad attitude and it effects almost everything and everyone that is involved. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These ruts come in many different shapes and forms. Here are just a few examples.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We have been hurt badly by someone and we can't seem to let go and forgive, or maybe, there is a serious situation going on with your spouse or your children and you don't know what to do. It could be that you are feeling inadequate at work or even as a wife or mom, and let's be honest, sometimes we are stuck in a rut and we don't even know why!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I needed to find a way to combat those feelings and behaviors I had whenever I became stuck in a rut!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I sat down and created my own little booklet of different things to do, to get myself unstuck. Since I am unable to share that physical book with you, I broke everything apart and created this simple little <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8OGrTSnZoHIMW02QXFraEtxQzg/view?usp=sharing">guide for you to download</a> and use whenever you become stuck!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXrcXrH-DHqapAXrVqOVOrZQqo_mB6Dp2BLJzrK3fADi20_iLOBoXCQVcF_qHKV4QEwlpQk3JkXoojawWxXSxeb3IL0HQMyKVNaGZVZm_et2kvb_ew_J8pIm3To5_Uo6lV1GQ9wLMtmnwE/s1600/Unstuck.001.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXrcXrH-DHqapAXrVqOVOrZQqo_mB6Dp2BLJzrK3fADi20_iLOBoXCQVcF_qHKV4QEwlpQk3JkXoojawWxXSxeb3IL0HQMyKVNaGZVZm_et2kvb_ew_J8pIm3To5_Uo6lV1GQ9wLMtmnwE/s640/Unstuck.001.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are a few of my favorite scriptures I use and you can apply them to any situation.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Psalm 34:18</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Psalm 37:4-5</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Philippians 1:6</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Matthew 6:33</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Romans 8:37</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Phillipians 4:13</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Hebrews 10:35-36</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Proverbs 16:1 & 3</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I pray that this will be helpful to you whenever you get stuck in rut! The most important thing to remember, is that we can't do it alone! We are only human, so we will fail, but that's why we have a Savior!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Many Blessings,</div>
