Think Ravi Teja and you would think of an easy, feel-good film with ample doses of comedy and action. Krishna that released today is no exception. The combination of VV Vinayak and Ravi Teja was hyped quite a bit before the film’s release. While it is not extraordinary, Krishna delivers what it promises. The main highlight of the film is the situational comedy that Vinayak has so deftly woven into the main plot. Just when you begin to think the story is no different, come these really hilarious chunks which make for happy viewing. As for the plot, it is the quintessential love story of a boy meets girl and villain playing the spoilsport.

Though in this film, the story has few new twists that make the watching interesting. The story begins in Vijayawada, where Krishna (Ravi Teja) sees Sandhya (Trisha) at the Durga temple on Dassara day. Cupid does his job and our hero falls in love in the very first sight. Then Sandhya leaves for Hyderabad, as she studies there and our hero follows her like a love-struck pup. It is from here that the story slowly unfolds and the villains come into the picture.

Ravi Teja has done similar roles all his life and he plays the part of Krishna with equal ease. Then there is Trisha, who had done such films through out her career. So it’s a virtual cakewalk for her. Despite this, the credit goes to Vinayak for spinning a yarn that is interesting enough to keep the audience till the very end. He shows Vijayawada in a new light. The Krishna river is shown in full spate and the shots that he uses in Vijayawada are refreshing. For once, there are no heavy duty dialogues despite lots of action.

Another plus is the handsome villain Jekka (Mukul Dev), brother of Rahul Dev, a model and actor himself in Mumbai. He looks trendy as the bad boy who is after the heroine. Though we have Jayaprakash Reddy, his role too is toned down by comedy and so it is no where nearer to the loud villain that he usually plays.

Sunil, MS Narayana, Chandramohan and Brahmanandam are their usual best. Sayaji Shinde and Tanikella Bharani have small roles, but those which are well fleshed out.

But it is Vinayak, who comes out a winner, as he does not fall into the trap of trying to over do either comedy or action. It is the film in recent times that does not use graphics and unnecessary special effects during the action sequences. The special effects used are subtle and look realistic. Music is a bit disappointing, though the sets look grand.

So to have a final word, if you are looking for some light, fun-filled movie during the festival vacation, then Krishna is the film for you and family.

Film 'Surya S/o Krishnan' has been made that relates the emotions between the father and son. Surya plays a dual role for the second time after ‘Perazhagan’ (Tamil) in this movie. Gautham Menon of ‘Gharshana’ has directed this film, made by Aascar Ravichandran. The film is presented on SVR Media banner to Telugu audience by Smt Shobha Rani. The film was released on 14th of November. A review that follows criticizes the same.

Story
Krishnan (Surya) is Surya’s (Surya again!) father. Krishnan and Malini (Simran) are his parents and their yesteryear classic love scenes unveil during their college days in which they both fall in love and get married. His doting father brings up Surya in the most beloved manner.

The story starts off with the teenage Surya’s attitude, love, rage and goes on to his college life. On his way back after completing his studies in Warangal, he meets Meghna (Sameera Reddy) on his way back to Vizag by train. All his attempts to woo her turns futile and she dismisses him saying that love at first sight is not true. Surya undauntedly scouts for Meghna and visits her at her home. Saying, ‘let me see if you can impress me’, Meghna flies off to U.S. for her higher studies.

On his narration to his parents about the girl, his dad supports for his American travel and off he goes to win her heart. He does it yet looses her to the fatal hands of terrorism in a blast. Depraved by her demise, he joins the army. Priya ( Ramya), her childhood love enters the scene and it all ends in a heart warming narration.

What made Surya join the army? Who was the new girl Priya in his life? Did he marry her? What’s his father’s role in his life? What happens to Krishnan in the end? The movie holds the answer to all these questions.

Artists Performance
Playing a dual role as two characters is not an easy task, yet Surya handles the role of a 17 year old teenage boy and a 60 year old major, Krishnan. His acting talents are enormous which impresses the people to a great extent. At certain scenes, his emoting ways reminds the viewers of Kamal Haasan’s performance in ‘Dasavataram’. His reactions are quite realistic in the emotional scenes where he hears the news of Meghna’s demise over phone. A teenage boy, college student, charming lover, drug addict, commando, major, son’s dad; these were the myriad number of demeanors done plausibly by Surya in this movie.

Simran as Malini in the character of Surya’s mother performed quite good and her changes in appearance is natural parallel with her age.

Beautiful actress Sameera Reddy played the crucial role of Meghna, a character who changes the entire plot. She did a nice performance and adds splendor to the movie. Ramya as Priya did appropriate emotions within the scope of her role. Prithvi's performance as a kidnapper is fine.

Technicians Work
Harris Jairaj composed music for Surya's earlier film 'Ghajini' which played a very important part in the movie’s success. The music he rendered for Surya S/o Krishnan is just average. Among the songs penned down by Veturi, only 'Chenchela…' is a good number.

Every scene is filled with graceful lighting and visuals presented by cameraman Ratnavelu delivers. Editing by Anthony is one more saving grace that tries to speed up the movie. Similarly, dialogues by Vennelakanti are not so plausible yet not bad either.

Director’s Portrayal
Gautham Vasudev Menon’s earlier was ‘Khaaka Khaaka’ starring Surya in Tamil. It became Gharshana in Telugu that became a good hit. Surya is known after his movie ‘Ghajini’ that made an impact on the audience. Now this is their second time combination that was expected widely but it doesn’t satisfy. The director was keen on sculpting his characters and technical aspects. He failed in rendering a captivating story and screenplay which shows his lack of attention in the areas.

Cons
The theme taken is good, but a bad screenplay fails the attempt. The sequences don’t seem to be merging at a point. It is not a clear line-up and makes us feel we are watching different episodes rather than a whole movie. The people get feels as if they are watching many movies at the same time. The sequence when Surya (Surya) signs himself in to the military is like an unnecessary addition. Even the songs are not that impressive and seriously lacks in replay value.

Criticism
The relationship between the father and his son was supposed to be depicted well. But the movie ends up narrating the episodes that happens in the son’s life which is inane. The script lacks a proper story line which is quite evident in the second half. But Surya has contributed his part with utmost care and his dedication sheens on screen. Even though technically strong, a serious lag in story doesn’t help matters. On a whole, the people who expected a movie like Ghajini, feels disappointed. In a nutshell, ‘Surya s/o Krishna’ could not surpass ‘Ghajini’ and is frivolous.

For someone who is number one in everything, something stimulating and challenging is always required. What happens when he does find something like that but then it is wrong in the eyes of his loved one and also the law. Does he still want that sort of ‘Kick’? let us see..

Story
Kalyan (ravi teja) and Naina (Ileana) love each other but then Kalyan is one man who loves to take up challenges just for the ‘kick’ of it. True to his nature, he gets bored of jobs easily and this tends to upset Naina a great deal. One day they have a showdown and Naina leaves Kalyan and comes to Malaysia. Here, her father fixes up an alliance with top cop Kalyan Krishna (shaam) and Naina tells her love story to him. Kalyan Krishna also explains his purpose of coming to Malaysia. There is a thief who in on the prowl and he has been robbing money from rich and famous. Who is that thief? Is Kalyan Krishna able to catch him? Does Naina forget Kalyan and get married to Kalyan Krishna? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Ravi Teja was the life and soul for the movie and his performance has been justified. He shows his original energy levels and keeps the momentum on. Words cannot describe the beauty of Ileana after she has put on weight, she looks truly gorgeous and very sweet. She must continue this shape in her future films too. Shaam looks handsome and he could have been better, Ashika was alright. Brahmanandam did his bit to get the maximum laughs, Ali was supportive, Venu Madhav did not have much in this. Sayaji was brief, Kota, Banerjee, Chalapathi Rao came and went. The others did their bit as required.

Technical aspects
The dialogues have been written sensibly and the script could have been a bit tighter but it was written without flaws. The screenplay was effective and it was well supported by a soulful background score. The songs were mild and two numbers were really touching. Cinematography was the highlight and editing was done neatly. Costumes and art department contributed their bit and made their presence felt. Stunts were few but the car chase sequences were well executed.

Director’s portrayal
The director has come up with a storyline that involves romance, comedy, suspense, thrills and also sentiment. So it was a mixture of many things which required a deft handling of the script. His presentation of the plot was alright but then he could have looked at working on the pace of the film and provided more quality instead of filling the gaps with few unwanted scenes. However, there was not much idle moment given by him except during the second half where the speed comes down drastically. Overall, it was an okay job.

Critic’s view
The film attempts to provide complete entertainment from start to end and except two scenes where there is a sentiment and melodrama, the rest of the movie runs mostly on comedy and action along with few thrills and twists. But then the movie could have been a lot better if the speed was worked upon and also the fights were not much in the movie which could have pushed in more adrenaline. Given the budget involved in the making of the film, it looks a bit skeptical as to how so much money has gone into it but then recovering that big an investment is something which could be a challenge. The plus point for the makers is there are no releases in their way right now so an aggressive marketing and a positive word of mouth will help them reach their goal.

Verdict
Good mix of various elements, can be watched.

Tagore is a Telugu language (" Tollywood ") film which was a remake of the Kollywood blockbuster Ramana . The film was released on September 24 , 2003 and was directed by V.V. Vinayak . Chiranjeevi played the role of the protagonist and Shriya , Jyothika , and Prakash Raj played some other roles as well. Soundtrack was scored by music director Mani Sharma . Tagore ( Chiranjeevi ) creates his own vigilante military network called the Anti corruption Force (ACF) that eliminates the most corrupt individuals, from all walks of life, in a systematic manner. As pressure builds on Police and Government to track down the Man who masterminds these killings, Balbir Singh ( Puneet Issar ), is specially summoned to head the task. He is aided by Suryam ( Prakash Raj ) who, though being just a constable in the mammoth Police force, is compelled by his instincts to see through the underlying design. Together they unravel the mystery and unveil the phenomenon called Tagore, but not before Badrinaryana ( Sayaji Shinde ), the human face of evil, finds out that his revelry in the belief of Tagore’s death was a mistake he can never make amends for.

Ullasamga Utsahamga Movie Online HQ DVD *ing Yasho Sagar, Sneha ullal by Karunakaran

The day Dil Raju announced that he is going to distribute the film 'Ullasamgaa… Utsahamgaa…' directed by Karunakaran, the expectations on the success of the movie went up, in view of his experience in judging the saleability of the flick. Moreover, the film came from a successful Kannada producer like BP Somu. Director Karunakaran who gave a blockbuster with Pawan Kalyan like 'Tholiprema' could not repeat the magic once again, while trying to promote the producer's son Yasho Sagar as hero. The storyline has not much new to talk about, but for the twists and gimmicks added by the director. Sneha Ullal's glamour and performance also went waste in the absence of mass masala elements in this love subject.

Dhanalakshmi (Sneha Ullal) is the lone daughter of a landlord who has over Rs 50 crore property. As she lost her mother in her childhood, her father marries another woman (Kavitha). However, Dhana faces neglect from her stepmother. After Dhana's father passes away, there is no one to console her and the only friend who showed affection was Balaji. He too leaves her after she completes her Class X. After Dhana grew up, she bequeaths her father's property and her mother eyes it and wanted to marry Dhana against her wishes. So Dhana escapes from house and takes shelter in her friend's house in Hyderabad. Aravind (Yasho Sagar), son of a mechanic, who moves like a vagabond with friends sans any responsibility. He comes across Dhana and loses his heart to her. However, after a few encounters, Dhana gets caught by her stepmother and when she was about take her away, Aravind helps her from the abduction with the help of police. This makes Dhana to befriend with Aravind and she reveals her childhood friendship and tells Aravind that she is in love with Balaji and can't imagine any other in his place. After refusal, Aravind decides to go to Kolkata in search of a job and at the same time, Dhana also comes to know that Balaji is in Kolkata. They both again meet in train and accidentally Dhana misses the train during the journey. So Aravind helps her reach Kolkata to meet her childhood friend Balaji. In the process, Aravind gets severely hurt in the hands of a criminal, who tries to implicate Dhana in a narcotics case. Later, Aravind takes Dhana to Balaji's house in Kolkata. Dhana's stepmother also reaches Kolkata and agrees for Dhana's marriage with Balaji. When the marriage was about to take place, Dhana realises that her stepmother enacted a drama and created a fake Balaji to impress Dhana. Again Aravind comes to her rescue and at that time Dhana realises that she was in love with Aravind and the film ends on a happy note with the success of love between Dhana and Aravind.

PERFORMANCE:
Yasho Sagar performed well to a certain extent, though he was a novice. Especially he showed good ease in dances. His facial expressions are fine but his body was a little rigid. Had he improved his histrionics and body language, he could be said as a promising artiste. Hopefully, he could improve his rigidness by his next film. Next comes Sneha Ullal. Though the hero is a debutant, the heroine is not a novice and already faced camera for a Bollywood film, opposite Salman Khan for 'Lucky'. All the other characters like Chandramohan, Kavita and LB Sriram did justice to their respective roles. However, some characters appeared doing a little overaction in the film. Especially, Sudha, Surekhavani and Satyakrishnan appeared a little overenthusiastic. Comedy by Brahmanandam, Suman Setty, Sunil and Venumadhav tickled the funny bone and evoked laughter from the audiences

TECHNICAL:
The director failed to manage a good tempo all through the film. The entire first half was devoted to show the mischievous acts of the hero and to build the love and friendship between the hero and the heroine. It appears the director did not concentrate well on the screenplay as he lost grip on the script for several times in the entire first half and a considerable part in the second half. But for the scenes about 15 minutes after the interval and before the climax, the remaining part of the film appeared bored. However, the only solace is the music by GV Prakash Kumar, nephew of AR Rahman. All the songs are lilting, the costumes and the choreography of songs are worth watching. Camera work by Andrew is just okay while editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is adequate. But for a couple of unnecessary scenes, which escaped from the scissors of Marthand, on an overall basis it is okay. Chintapalli Ramana's dialogues are good in parts.

REMARKS:
The promos that were released and telecast in various private channels made the audiences to decide that the hero is promising. However, when it comes to the film, the hero appeared very rigid and the movement of the story is full of ebbs and tides. Moreover, the film doesn't have any kind of mass masala elements and were shot in a routine and old fashioned way. Unless the film gets a good mouth publicity, the survival of the film is in a limbo.

With the response generated for youth entertainers in a good way, the focus has been more on getting fresh faces and coming up with a adrenaline pumping storyline. Something like that is all set to happen in the forthcoming venture ‘Ride’.

This is being made under the banner of Sri Sai Ganesh Productions and the film has Tanish, Nani, Swetha Basu Prasad, Aksha in the lead cast while Ahuti Prasad, Kasi Viswanath, Thulasi, Sudha, Gaurav, Brahmanandam, Hema, Dharmavarapu, Rajitha and others form the supporting cast.
The director of the film is Ramesh Varma while the big budget producer Bellamkonda Suresh is the maker of this venture. The film marks the debut of singer Hemachandra as the music director and the audio got a fairly good response with some good lyrics by Bhaskarbhatla.

The editor is Marthand K Venkatesh and the cinematography is being handled by Shyam K Naidu. The dialogues were written by Shashank Vennelakanti and this is slated to be a romantic entertainer filled with an adventure element to it.

The story revolves around two young lads who are competent rivals and they have their own love tracks to add to the masala. All the four actors in the lead have scored hits in their earlier movies and are now keen on repeating the magic.

This will be a crucial one for Bellamkonda since this is more like his comeback innings and he is in need of a hit too.

Generation gap is an inevitable part between the parents and their kids. Parents misconceive the likes of their wards and assume that their decisions are the best made for their children. With their abounding affection, they ignore the children’s feelings which was ‘Bommarillu’ theme earlier and now ‘Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam’ is one more arrival similar to the same theme.

Starring Siddarth, Tamanna, Prakash Raj and Ramya Krishna in the lead cast, debut director Kishore Kumar alias Dolly has made the film produced by Nallamalapu Srinivas alias Bujji on Lakshmi Narasimha Productions banner. Based on the consequences faced by children due to the parent’s ego which forms the crux, the film was released on 5th February,2009.

Story
Siddhu Varma (Siddharth) is the son of Prakash Varma and Rajya Lakshmi (Ramya Krishna) who grows up in a not so affectionate family environment because of his parents’ separation which happened 18 years ago. Yet, he is a lively chap with aspirations in life and behaves carefree. He comes across the beautiful village belle Geetha Subrahmanyam (Tamannna) and falls in love with her. He wins her heart with his joyful approach and she accepts in return. Geetha is a traditional girl who believes firmly in relationships and respects her family.

The young lovers approach Geetha’s father Subrahmanyam (Nazar) for their marriage. Keen on family values, Subramanyam puts forth a condition for Siddhu if he wishes to marry his daughter.

How Siddhu’s efforts to unite his parents become fruitful in the end forms the rest of the plot.

Performance of Artists
Siddhartha is a good actor who has displayed notable performance in the films like ‘Nuvvostante Nenodantana’, ‘Bommarillu’ and ‘Aata’. His role again in the name Siddhu has been carried efficiently by his emoting skills. His presentation of dialogues like " evaraina premisthe pareeksha pedatharu meerenti siksha vidhincharu…" "Dveshanni maathram vunchukoni premani dooram chesukunnaru…" during the climax appeals largely.

The popular star of ‘Happy Days’ Tamanna has played the subtle role as Geetha Subrahmanyam. She does her part well and is an asset for the film. Her gestures and body language in certain sequences are attractive.

No special mention is needed for the talented actor Prakash Raj who carries himself with ease and elan in the role of Prakash Varma. Ramya Krishna doesn’t lag behind and does justice to her role as a mother with her able performance. Nazar as Subrahmanyam has dignifiedly presented the role within its scope.

Brahmanandam as Gachibowli Diwakar, Venu Madhav as Bangaru Raju shoulders the responsibility of making the viewers laugh and they did it with grace. Sudha, Surekha Vani, Vijay Samrat, Karuna, Hema have done well within the limits of their role.

Technical Aspects
Musical score composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is new for Telugu audience with innovative compositions. Lyrics penned by Sirivennela, Chandra Bose, Ramajogaiah Sastry, Chinni Charan aptly sync along with the songs and are sweet to listen to.

Choreography by Raju Sundaram, Kalyan, Soni Nikson and Shekhar has been done neatly. Dialogues by Abburi Ravi are crisp and touché the emotions near the end. Chinna’s BGM is average while Harish Shankar has done a good job as an assistant in writing while screenplay done by Deepak Raj, Vikram Siri is taut and neat.

Srikar Prasad should have made a taut screenplay which he missed that delivers a lag in the movie. . Vijay K Chakravarthy cinematography brings in the perfect visualization on screen which enriches the movie. Nallamalapu Srinivas has made a good family entertainer.

Director’s Portrayal
Director Kishore Kumar’s work is near to flawless albeit him being a first time director. He deserves applause for his timing sense to bring out scenes and for the storyline with his very first film. The complete movie going experience would have been better if the lag in narration been checked out. On the whole, director has made a mark with his first venture.

Criticism
The title gets justified which states every family has its own share of sweetness and sourness meaning ‘Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam’. Parents’ separation due to their egoistic nature affects their children’s life which many are not aware of. The concept has been rendered on screen in a melodramatic way filled with love, affection and family bond. Verdict: A feel good family entertainer with few flaws which could be overlooked for the better parts.

When the child grows up to a further stage in life, the parents should understand their needs and respect their ideas. This subject is beautifully featured in 'Kotha Bangaru Lokam' with a new touch of flavor. The film was release as a gift of Vijaya Dasami on 9th this month.

STORY
Balu (Varun Sandesh) is a jovial guy, and is the son of Yerram Setti Krishna Murthy (Prakash Raj) and Jayasudha. The parent's matrimony forms from their love. They adore their son very much, especially Krishna Murthy who treats him like a friend. Once at the age of eight he tells his son, "At any point of life, if you feel that you are doing something wrong, just let me know."

Swapna (Swetha Prasad) is a cheerful girl; she always tries to get what ever she wants. Her parents are Kasi Viswanath (Ahuthi Prasad) and Rajitha, who never minds her views and opinions. Kasi Viswanth is a very harsh person.

Balu studies in SVS College where Rajahmundry, and Swapna joins alongside him. Accidentally they meet in the college, which develops in to an acquaintance and further in to love. One day their chemistry lecturer RaoRamesh comments that it is only infatuation that happens at this phase of life and couldnot be true love. Giving it a serious thought Balu and Swapna test the relation between them and comes to a conclusion that it is indeed a true love. Knowing about the affair Swapna's father detains her from the college and discontinues her studies. Learning about this Paul (Brahmanandam) sends off Balu to home. How did Krishna Murthy respond to this all? Did Balu and Swapna unite? What happens at the end? Answers to be these questions is to be watched on screen.
PERFORMANCE OF THE ARTISTS
Prakash Raj and JayaSudha, the parents of 'Bommarillu's Siddhu have been paired again in this film to restate the role. Their performance delivered brought a grace to the storyline. We can say that their performance seemingly close to reality is the main asset to the film.

Varun Sandesh who exhibited a settled performance in 'Happy Days', did very well with the godavari accent. Form start to end his performance exhibits considerable improvement compared to earlier 'Happy Days'.

Swetha Prasad who entered filmdom with 'Ekbal' as a child artist, had exhibited much ease in acting, and bagged applauses for her performance. This is her first appearance as a heroine in Telugu, and her performance can be counted as an additional high spot to the film. On the whole she did well in the character of Swetha. Hopefully, she will get some good opportunities in Tollywood after this film.

'Ahuthi' Prasad did very well as Viswanadam. Director Srikanth has utilized his image after 'Chandamam' very well, in molding his character. Many dialogues of this movie reminds us of the dialogues in his earlier film. Rajitha did her role well with whatever she could perform in the premises.

Brahmanandam's role as a college priniciple needs no special description. He lured the audience with his ever green style of comedy.

RaoRamesh who got good recognition for his performance in 'Gamyam', performed his character of the chemistry lecturer aptly. He portrays a role that encourages and guides Balu. If the talent in him is utilized properly, he will be like another Prakash Raj to the industry.

TECHNICIANS WORK
Chota K Naidu who works only for huge budget films, has first time handled the megaphone for this film. He has created a beautiful 'Kotha Bangaru Lokam'. The lighting he used in a few scenes is really excellent.

Mickey J Mayer who is well recognized, for his tunes in 'Happy Days', has composed lively music for this film. The lyrics by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, Ananth Sriram and Chandra Bose is adds flavor to his tunes. Marthand K Venkatesh who has a good recognition for his editing, has done a serene job.

Director's Portrayal
Srikanth Addala who debuted with this film as a director, has shown good clarity in the work. Everything from the script, screenplay, dialogues and songs, he did with a complete perception. The dialogues like "deepam mana intide ani muddu pettukunte, meesam kalipothundi" that has been written by him for the character of Ahuthi Prasad are captivating to the core. Srikanth Addala has scored 100 out of 100 with his very first movie as the director.

Cons
In most parts, the film lags at a slow pace which slows down the story considerably. In the second half the narration is also slowed down. This might be a surprise which will disappoint the audience who are enjoying the movie in a constant feel.
The most talented actor PrakashRaj is not presented well and his acting skills was not put to use. The placement of songs in the story is irrelevant. For example, the song 'Nee prasnalu neeve yevaro badulivvaruga' would have sinked well if added in the scene where the character of Prakash Raj dies.
Criticism
'Dil' Raju who conveyed the message - Parents should respect the ideas and views of their children through his film 'Bommarillu'; has now presented another message -The children should always respect parents who raised them with many dreams in heart, and also should behave by keeping their responsibilities in mind that is expected from them. Further the parents should give importance to the views of children who are taking their responsibilities. The film will sure increase the quality value of the banner. 'Kotha Bangaru Lokam' is really a feel good family entertainer, and 'Dil' Raju deserves a huge round of applause for this work. This is a film that every one must watch atleast once.

Story

Akbar (Kamal Kamaraju) is an orphan who resides in Devarakonda village near to Hyderabad City. Driving a 7-seater auto is his livelihood. Completing a graduation in B.Com, is his foremost ambition for which he strives to attain. Purushotham with a family of 3-children, the eldest being Lakshmi (Bindu Madhavi), arrives at Devarakonda from Polavaram. In a spur of the moment, Akbar and Lakshmi gets acquainted, and slowly their relationship blossoms into love.

On a fateful day, news arrives that CM is planning to visit the village pf Devarakonda. The owner of Akbar's auto, Masterji (Rao Ramesh) who is the Surpanch of the village beseeches everyone in the village to voluntarily clean the surroundings of the village. The people follow his words obediently and gets into the job. Next day, the chief minister arrives and during a meeting with the people, Akbar brings various problems suffered by the local people to the leader’s notice. Masterji gets completely discontent with his attitude, asks Akbar to leave the village, on the pretext that he spoiled the prestige of village in front of Chief Minister.

What were the consequences? Did the ardent antagonist against Muslims, Purushotham agreed for Akbar-Lakshmi's marriage? Performance of Artists

Widely recognized as red-shirt Ravinder from 'Godavari', Kamal Kamaraju did well as Akbar in this film. His action is very natural and delivers the emotions of a village boy. Bindu Madhavi who played the character of Lakshmi makes the viewers forgot that she’s a debutante and woos the audience. A tad tweak in her acting skills might bring loads of offers at her residence.

Rao Ramesh, who has already proved his mettle with 'Gamyam' as a descendant to Rao Gopala Rao in acting, did full justice to his role as Masterji. However, if a little more care has been rendered for costumes the character might have got a good elevation.

Kameswara Rao as heroine's father, Durgesh and Varun Jonnada as heroes’ friends, Praneeth as a assistant to RaoRamesh, did a good job of playing their parts on screen.

Director's Portrayal

Choosing a story close to the nativity of a village that is similar to Malgudi Days, with sensitive emotions, the director added a love story to it. However he has failed completely in presenting the subject with a fresh look. Keeping aside the story, even the dialogues did not show maturity in expression. Some of them seemed like uttered by small children. Better luck next time Anish.

Anish’s choice was a story related close to the rustic nativity of a village which resembles the Malgudi days. Filled with sensitive emotions, the movie has love as its temporal basement. The lacking area is on the director’s failure to present the out-dated story kind of movie in a fresh appeal. It’s not just the story that is out of the box, but also dialogues which are not so matured and doesn’t express well. At times, it is so childish that checks our patience level. Verdict for the maker is, ‘better luck next time Anish’.

Technicians Work

Irrespective of the hero, the real heroes of the script are behind-the-scenes technicians Shyam Dutt, Manikant Khadri and Vanamali. Cinematography has been done so lavish and beautiful. Every frame has the right requirement of lighting and his expertise in handling the camera is sprinkled all along the movie. An appreciation to his camera work is a well deserved one for he succeeds with his slick skills.

Coming close to being the best is music director Manikant Khadri, who has composed some good tunes for the movie. His re-recording stands high in quality that is parallel to this mass entertainer. Music happens to be an important part that takes the movie to a better level.

Third in the line is lyric writer Vanamali. The songs have all been meaning fully penned and the words support the melody in the music. At some instances when the viewer feels bored, the songs have helped in cementing the pits. Editing by Praveen Boina is worthy.

Criticism
Most of us are acquainted with RK Narayan's Malgudi Days, these stories reflect nativity to the utmost perfection. Taking a similar line of story, director Anish has attempted to make the film 'Aavakai Biryani'. However, the platter has not been planned well and the stale look of presentation fails to attract the spectators.

Aavakai is best served with freshly cooked rice or still better with curd rice. The attempt to present it with Biryani, two disparate ends of taste fails to attract audience. If Anish serves his next with the right combination, then it could be go places. But for ‘Aavakai Biryani’, it’s just not hot enough.

Story:

It was with great hype that the film ‘Billa’ was expected and this is the first of the biggies for this summer. This was being deemed as the Telugu version of a James Bond flick when it comes to style and presentation. How does a thief become a don and try to save the world is the essence. Let us see how that happens.

Story
Set in Malaysia, ACP Krishnamurthy (Krishnamraju) is keen on catching the one and only Billa (Prabhas), the international criminal. Billa keeps escaping each time the cops try to catch him and he is flanked by his gang of girlfriend Lisa (Namitha), henchmen Ranjith (Supreeth) and Vijay (Subbaraju). In their gang joins Maya (Anushka) who is the sister of Vijay and she comes to kill Billa since he has killed Vijay during an incident. Meanwhile, Krishnamurthy finally manages to corner Billa and in the shootout, Billa dies in his hands. In order to know the major deal that Billa has with Rashid Khan (Kelly), Krishnamurthy looks for an idea and he finds Ranga. Ranga (Prabhas) is a petty thief who lives at Vizag and makes his earnings to take care of the two kids. He dreams of having big cars and men following him, he resembles Billa exactly. Krishnamurthy manages to convince Ranga to take up the place of Billa and takes him to Malaysia. Their plan is partly successful but in between, Krishnamurthy gets killed and this lands Ranga in trouble. How does he manage to come out of all that forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Prabhas has come up with a very impressive performance and his act as Ranga was more impressive than Billa. However, he suited the role of a stylish don. Anushka gave every penny’s worth with her bikini act and the glamour show. Namitha competed equally with Anushka and showed her voluptuous sex appeal. Supreeth looked evil enough, Rehman was stylish but he could have been more intense with his performance, Krishnamraju was not upto the mark and perhaps he is a miscast to this role. Ali came and went without any comedy, Jayasudha was barely visible. Hansika was sweet in the song.

Technical aspects
The film was made more relying on the presentation than the narrative aspect. Dialogues were dull, the script was written without much masala, screenplay could not elevate the movie. Music was just average and there were only two songs that were worth taking home, cinematography was good in parts. Editing was sharp but sometimes it kind of created too short a sequence taking away the feel. Art department came with good settings while the stunt scenes were also impressive, costumes were perfect to each character.

Director’s portrayal
Meher Ramesh has come up with a storyline that is familiar but then it appeared that he was unable to handle the slick approach. Though his earlier venture ‘Kantri’ had those impact points, it was missing in Billa. The film could have taken off on a high voltage opening and instead it came across as a rather disconnected and stale start and Ramesh has to take the responsibility for it. However, few instances showed his brilliance but then he could have been a lot better given the budget and the infrastructure he was given. It came across as a rather amateurish presence in few places.

Critic’s view
The film could have been a super hit if only the script was handled very well and the dialogues were written with more passion and fire. The first fifteen minutes of the movie was hardly anything and it takes a while for the actual momentum to pick up. To be honest, the real story begins only in the second half and the plot gets life after the arrival of Ranga. Even the bikini act and action sequence of Anushka was not that sensuous but her beautiful presence kind of made up for it. The film was made with a high budget and the money could have been used in a very efficient manner to create a proper blockbuster. But that is not happening with ‘Billa’ and it will be an above average visual treat at the box office.

Verdict
It is stylish, visually rich. Not much in content and depth though.

Mantra telugu Horror Movie DvD *ing Sivaji, Charmee

Horror as a genre was not very hot when it came to the directors in the Telugu industry. But thrillers and horror films are something that have become the new-age cinema for Telugu audiences as the success of A Film by Arvind has proved. Mantra too falls into a similar genre. What sets it apart from the earlier mentioned film is the suspense it maintains as to whether it’s a supernatural element or a human hand that kills people in the spooky villa named Mantra Nilayam.

Well, does it scare? The film makes no pretensions. The best thing about the film is that it does try too hard to establish anything. The director just lets the events flow and that is where the strength of the film lies. The story simply takes you around and the viewer simply goes along trying to figure out who is behind all the scary deaths at Mantra Nilayam.

The film starts off with the director trying to establish the background of Mantra (Charmme), as a hapless girl who is caught in a debt trap. Left with no means to repay, she tries to find buyers for her farmhouse. However, given the mysterious deaths that take place there and its spooky locales, there are no buyers, barring an unknown professor who has a sole condition. The deal is that if Mantra gets people to stay for at least three months, the professor promises to buy the property. So, begins her sojourn of trying to find tenants for the house.

Here comes Hero (Sivaji, yes his character’s name is Hero), who is the sidekick of an extortionist. Finding a lucrative deal in the farmhouse, he offers to stay in the house along with his friends. But it’s not before long, that his friend Muniswamy (Chitram Srinu) is murdered. Naturally, Hero now has a reason to find out what’s behind the unnatural incidents taking place at Mantra Nilayam, apart from getting a cut in Charmme’s profit. What happens next is for you to find out, naturally.

As for the cast, credit goes to Charmme, for doing a role, which is least patronizing to any leading lady. It has lots of substance, but does not have the glamour quotient that the commercial heroines cannot do without. So, you have Charmme at her no-make-up best and wearing clothes a la a girl next door. She is slim in some outfits, but looks quite plump in others. But the effort is to make her look as real as possible and the director and Charmee succeed only too well. She does act her part perfectly as the simple working girl, faced with a crisis, which in turn puts her face to face with death. She comes off as a girl who has the spirit to figure out what’s happening, instead of shrieking at the word go.

Sivaji, Kausa, 'Chitram' Srinu, Jeeva, all play their parts convincingly. Thanksfully, none of them go overboard.

The credit has to go to the director to keeping the characters realistic and not indulging in cheap thrills by including unnecessary characters or sequences that would mar the flow of the film. Even when it comes to the characterization of Charmme or Sivaji, he does not go overboard and simply tackles them as two individuals facing a common crisis. Another strong point is the lack of hysterical shrieks and high-pitched drama that is usually associated with films of such genre. Even the climax is rounded off rather crisply.

Cinematographer Sivendra and music director Anand don’t let down Thulasi Ram and come up with good work to keep up the film’s impact. Of course, we have seen some shots in A Film by Arvind earlier, but they are nevertheless well-done and that’s where Mantra scores.

The picturisation of the songs is a huge disappointment though. When you listen to the audio, you tend to imagine exotic locales and saucy visuals, but what you get is a rather cheesy number, shot tackily with unknown faces. Even the Maha maha number, does not go beyond what was shown in th

What happens when reality hits on a man who is totally headstrong and filthy rich, what are the troubles taken to prove his sincerity and dedication towards love. All this is part of the film ‘Raju Maharaju’ so let us see how it is.
Story
Chakravarthy (Mohan Babu) is a rich businessman and he lives a happy life with his wife Ramya (ramya Krishna), he is known for his ethics and his kind nature. However, things are not the same with his brother Kalyan (sharwanand) who is quite the opposite. He is rude, blunt, doesn’t care about others and is bothered only about himself and his pleasures. So he has his group of friends and he indulges in all sorts of fun. His life takes a turn when sees Sneha (surveen) and falls for her. But... Sneha doesn’t reciprocate to his feelings knowing his character very well. Kalyan is shattered and goes into depression. Ramya takes initiative and asks Sneha to act friendly with Kalyan for few days. Sneha agrees and begins to develop some feelings for Kalyan but one incident happens which leaves her in a fury. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Mohan Babu was at his best and gave an impact with his presence. Ramya was still looking hot and made the men feel dizzy. Surveen was sweet but she needs to work on her body language a bit, Tashu did her job well and was generous with her skin show, she was a visual feast. Sunil looked trim and got few smiles while his scenes with Brahmanandam also got some lighter moments. Jayasudha was brief, Jayaprakash Reddy made his presence felt. The others did their bit as per the standard.

Technical aspects
The dialogues were dull, the script was not having strength and the screenplay was average. Music failed to impress with the songs but the background score was good at few points. Cinematography was neat in the songs and few intense scenes. Editing was alright and costumes, art department was also playing a significant role.

Director’s portrayal
The director had to wrk on the presentation and the narrative aspects and despite the presence of some experienced actors, he was not able to give the right kind of impact. The element of comedy was not in sufficient doses and though there are few good scenes here and there, overall it has been a drag of sorts. The flaws in his narrative were seen at few points evidently and he should have worked on creating a stronger script.

Critic’s view
The film could have been a lot better if it was taken off in an energetic manner with some good scenes of comedy. The highlight in the overall venture was Sharwanand who has shown considerable improvement in his acting, dance and dialogue delivery. While the first half was dull, the second half was more on the sentimental aspect and the mix was not proportionate. There is some solace for the mass audience due to the songs and the visual delight by Tashu Kaushik but how much that can take the film to a success point will be a big question. Satyameva Jayate Telugu DvD Excellent quality *ing Rajasekhar, Sanjana

Satyameva Jayate, the Telugu remake of Rajkumar Santoshi's Khakhee has Dr Rajasekhar taking on Amitabh Bachchan's [Images] role. This version is made more in sync with the times and therefore well adapted and amended. The film, which opens with attacks in Vizag, also shows the recent terrorist attacks on the Taj.

Jeeweta Rajasekhar, wife of Dr Rajasekhar and former actress directs, Satyameva Jayate, which is written (actually one should say, suitably modified by the hero) Dr Rajasekhar himself. The movie is in large parts fairly similar to Khakee [Images] including the name of the character of the accused 'terrorist' Dr Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni).

Sathya is passionate about his job. He even prevents an attempt on the chief minister's life by terrorist Ranadev. Due to that Sathya loses his wife. Thankful to him, the chief minister (played by real minister Satyanarayana) assigns Sathya (after he returns from his treatment) with the task of escorting Dr Iqbal Ansari to court. Sathya is accompanied by cops Prathap (Sivaji), Basara Papa (Neetu Chandra) and Satti. Mahalakshmi too joins them as she has to be escorted to Hyderabad. This is a tough ordeal for all of them as danger lurks every where. The police-politician nexus (between commissioner and home minister played by Sayaji Shinde [Images]) is brought out and another angle of the 'terrorist' (Ranadev) is added.

A bit of native flavour has been induced in Satyameva Jayate and therein lies the change.

The movie has its share of songs including the item number Aisa Jadoo (in Telugu) by Lara Dutta [Images]. The writing has been changed but somehow the twists and turns aren't that thrilling. The climax too is a wee bit different and here the onus is on the hero Dr Rajasekhar. Also, the performance of the cast in Satyameva Jayate barring Dr Rajasekhar, Sayaji Shinde and to some extent Milind Soman [Images] (his Telugu debut), is not impressive.

Comparisons are bound to be made and it's only Dr Rajasekhar who carries the film on his shoulders. He displays the right emotions -- toughness and gentleness -- when required. There's no doubt he's worked on the script and his acting.

For Shinde, such roles are a cakewalk. Shivaji is just about okay while Milind Soman, though not menacing, plays the modern 'terrorist' to the hilt. Neetu Chandra is pretty professional as the cop. Atul Kulkarni is his usual self and does not have too much to do.

Jeeweta has done a fairly good job in the directorial department. On the whole, watching this movie may give you a sense of deja vu. But for those who haven't seen Khakee, it may offer something different.

Instead of keeping a separate comedy track, he makes the audiences to laugh instantaneously by creating certain scenes and typical situations. The combination of this successful producer and director brought out a different love story on the screen, which came the 81st film on Ushakiron Movies' banner. As the story demanded, the director chose all new faces for the film.

Mahesh Babu plays the lead role while Ileana D'Cruz, Prakash Raj, Sayaji Shinde, and Ashish Vidyarthi play supporting roles. Mani Sharma was the music director, Shyam K. Naidu handled cinematography , and was edited by Marthand K. Venkatesh. The film was released on April 28, 2006.This telugu blockbuster was remade in Tamil with the same title, starring Vijay & Asin Thottumkal in the lead roles. Soon this film will be released in remade Hindi version (Wanted Dead and Alive) where Salman Khan & Ayesha Takia play in the lead roles.
The film was premiered at the 2006 International Indian Film Academy Awards.

Story
evaraina epudaina Venkat (Varun Sandesh) is a smart youngster who tricks people around him for fun and to earn money. He falls in love with Madhumita (Vimala Raman) at the first sight. He gets an opportunity to get close to her and impress her. Meanwhile, his close friend (Adarsh) confesses him that he is in love with the daughter of Madhumita’s father (Toli Prema twist). He thinks that his friend is going to be engaged to Madhumita. This prompts Venkat to play a spoilsport in the engagement ceremony. Then he realises that his friend is about to get engaged to the sister of Madhumita. Venkat is in a fix now as he can’t tell the truth to Madhumita. The rest of the story is all about how he amends himself, corrects the mistake and wins back the confidence of the family of Madhumita.
